Life on Purpose Episode 93: Living in Flow, Synchronicity, and Healing with Sky Nelson-Isaacs

on
August 24, 2020
My guest for Life on Purpose Episode #93 is Sky Nelson-Isaacs. Sky is a physics educator, speaker, author, and musician who has dedicated his life to finding his own sense of purpose, bringing together the connection between synchronicity, physics, and real life using research and his original ideas. I’m a big fan of Sky’s work — which shows how cultivating FLOW can empower us individually and help make our world a better place — and earlier this year took his Living In Flow course, which was great!

First Light (Video & Music)

on
July 28, 2020
For any of my friends and tribe who are struggling right now given the uncharted waters we're in with coronavirus and the efforts to contain it, I've made something for you. It's a video of a piano piece I wrote overlaid with some of my favorite images from recent years that I've photographed around the world. I hope it gives you a small amount of peace and calm if you need it. It's a more polished version of a piece I posted recently on Facebook called "First Light" with imagery that I thought fit.

The Dalai Lama, COVID & The Shape of Things To Come

Facebook reminded me that eight years today, I had the opportunity to experience something truly profound. His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama visited San Diego and did three public talks. I got to see the one at University of San Diego and the theme was something even more pertinent now than that day: “World peace must develop from inner peace.” That’s a concept I truly believe and one of many motivating factors in developing my own mindfulness and meditation practices. During a Q&A at the end, someone asked His Holiness what his greatest challenge was. His response: he was afraid of losing compassion for the Chinese Communists that had driven him into exile, persecuted his people, and continue to deny his legitimacy. Stop and think about that for a second...

Forest Bath Suite (solo piano)

on
June 23, 2020
I’m sharing something I’ve never shared with the public in hopes that you might find it comforting in these times of so much unknown and anxiety. Two years ago, I was going through a very challenging time in my own life with a degree of uncertainty as great as many of us are feeling now in the time of the pandemic. I had recently starting playing more solo piano again after being away from it for quite awhile and found it soothing. During that time, a friend mentioned the concept of forest bathing, a Japanese practice of nature therapy also known as shinrin-yoku, which means bathing in the forest atmosphere or taking in the forest through our senses.

Welcome To Finding Light: a Meetup, a Meditation, and More!

on
June 15, 2020
I'm incredibly excited to welcome you to Finding Light, my new website, creative platform, and brand. Finding an overarching theme that both tied together all of my recent creative work and served as my "Why?" and a call to action has been something I've wanted for years. Yet despite all the pieces being RIGHT in front of my eyes and ears and awareness, I couldn't put the puzzle pieces together. It took the shock of a global pandemic for clarity to emerge (see my post on The Finding Light Origin Story to learn more) but it did and I've now I'm ready to birth Finding Light into the world at large and see where it all takes me...
